Patient Information
CCTV
Fiordland Medical Practice now has CCTV on site. The areas monitored are corridors and waiting areas with the primary reason behind this move being patient and staff safety. Our entrances/exits will also be monitored. There is no CCTV running in any consultation or treatment areas, although entry and exit from these areas is captured.
CCTV footage is stored securely for a specified period and after this period, it is automatically overwritten unless it is required for investigative or legal purposes. Any footage is monitored by authorised personnel only and this is limited to individuals with a legitimate reason to view it.
Heidi AI Scribe
Some of our clinicians are trialling AI in consultation. Please be prepared to be asked at the start of your consultation whether you are happy to have this voice recording in the background. At the end of the consultation this is converted to a typed up record and the voice recording is automatically deleted. There are very strict protocols regarding the management of the transcribed data. Once it has been copied into your electronic record it is set to delete itself after a few days.
We see this as a benefit for our clinicians and patients alike. The main benefit for our team is cutting down the paperwork time that they have in addition to the time spent in consultation with patients. For you, our patients, we hope that you will feel that the clinician is more fully focused on you during the consultation, without the need to keep track or make notes along the way. As the recording will cover everything discussed during the appointment time, there is less risk of something being missed from the consultation notes.
All patients are free to refuse to have their consultation documented in this way. If you do give consent you are free to withdraw that consent at any point during the consultation.
